What is really great about eastern Kentucky right now is the infusion of new businesses coming in. I remember when you wanted to take the family out for a good meal, you had to travel to Ashland or Lexington, not any more. Over the years we have seen the addition of Apple Bee's and Reno's, and most recently Steak n' Shake. Now, we are going to see the addition of one of the best Steak Houses that I have ever visited, "Texas Roadhouse" YES! Texas Roadhouse is coming to Pike County in June. A lengthy negotiation process has resulted in a chain restaurant making a committment to possibly locate in Pikeville, and city officials hope the new restaurant will open mid-2011.
According to a letter of intent received recently by the City of Pikeville, Louisville-based Texas Roadhouse plans to lease property behind the U.S. Post Office on Thompson Road for a 239-seat, 7,135 square-foot restaurant, which Pikeville City Manager Donovan Blackburn anticipates will be open in May or June of next year.
