CALIPARI IS THE NEW HEADCOACH FOR UK! START PARTYING! ANNOUNCEMENT BY UK TOMORROW!
Channel 3 in Memphis, WREG, tells us a source close to the University of Memphis basketball program says Coach Calipari has signed a deal with UK.
I will keep everyone posted if anything changes.
*Tuesday Update: As of now, all indication are leaning toward Calipari being the new headcoach of the Kentucky Wildcats. Every news outlet was covering the possibility of the UK coach throughout the day and all thru the everning. The last report from last night is that Calipari is going to sleep on a reported 8 year, $35 million dollar deal from Kentucky! What is there to sleep on?!
Next: Along that note, the same person said that almost all of the details were finalized late Monday night. One of the major sticking points was the status of the outstanding scholarship offers for the players in the 2010 class and beyond. According to this source, Calipari said that “only one is anywhere close to a UK-level player”.
Matt Jones (Kentucky Sports Ratio) spoke to someone very close to Calipari who said a couple of interesting things:
Well folks, it is getting closer and closer that John Calipari MAY be the new headcoach of the Kentucky Wildcats next year. All reports are indicating that the check-book is being thrown at that coach from Memphis with seventeen years of experience. This ma VERY WELL be the best fit for the UK program.

IT IS OFFICIAL! Billy Gillespie is NO LONGER the head coach for the Kentucky Wildcats. A meeting happened today between Lee Todd, Mitch Barnhardt and Billy Gillespie to discuss the future of the University of Kentucky Basketball team.
Today their is a press-conference scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to announcing a coaching change for the University of Kentucky. Will it be Billy Donovan? We will soon see! Keep your fingers crossed!

Gillispie stood there with a look on his face that showed a man full of emotion. With tears seeming to well up in his face, Gillispie looked genuniely sad and disappointed as his look suggested a man who knew his fate was likely already determined. Word is around town is that Billy G. is OUT! and Hello to Billy D. You heard me right, BILLY DONOVAN, NEW UK HEAD COACH! That's right, it seems that (according to the rumor-mill that should Kentucky not be victorious in the NIT Quarterfinals, Billy Donovan will be named the new head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats (this is what's floating around on the net, could be nothing, but I did hear the samething from people around the way) Give me your comments, I would really like to discuss.

It is a very exciting time to be a UK fan! or is it? Last night, the Kentucky Wildcats took down the No. 1 Seed team in their bracket (65-63) Kentucky is now head to play the always dangerous Notre Dame Fighting Irish this coming Wednesday. That is the good news. The bad news is that every second of every day is that "Gillespie will be here next year" or "Gillespie is FIRED!"
Here is what I am thinking, IF Gillespie is TRUELY going to be our coach next year, then Mitch Barnhardt or President Lee Todd needs to step up and squash the rumors now. While Patrick Patterson did tell Lexington sportscaster Alan Cutler that he is returning to UK next season, the more you ask him about it, the more he seems to qualify his statement. Here's what he said after today's game when asked, "So is your return to UK a done deal, or will you test the NBA waters?"
Patterson:As my mom said right now, it's come back. I want to come back, that's what my mindset is right now.
But depending on how the year finishes out, how everything plays out, with my draft stock and where I am in the predicted draft, talking to my coaches, just talking to my family members and teammates and everybody and how everything plays out later on down the stretch, we'll evaluate everything again.

The Air Car caused a huge stir when we reported last year that Tata Motors would begin producing it in India. Now the little gas-free ride that could is headed Stateside in a big-time way.
Zero Pollution Motors (ZPM) confirmed to PopularMechanics.com on Thursday that it expects to produce the world’s first air-powered car for the United States by late 2009 or early 2010.
As the U.S. licensee for Luxembourg-based MDI, which developed the Air Car as a compression-based alternative to the internal combustion engine, ZPM has attained rights to build the first of several modular plants, which are likely to begin manufacturing in the Northeast and grow for regional production around the country, at a clip of up to 10,000 Air Cars per year.
Kentucky big man Patrick Patterson tells LEX18’s Alan Cutler he is planning on returning to the Cats next year after discussing it with his family and the coaching staff. Who cares about the news and views???? This is all the news that matters!
For that past couple of weeks their have been romurs swriling that this is likely the last year that Billy G. will be the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. Personally, I think that the University of Kentucky may give Billy G. at least one more year to prove the is worth that $2.5 million dollars on his contract, "That is not even signed as of yet" Really, I would think that for Billy G. to swash the "firing rumors", he needs to do one thing, WIN! AND WIN BIG!
Billy G. will most certainly have to win the SEC tourney and make it to the BIG DANCE before any kind of rumors will stop.

PRESTONSBURG — The case against two Martin residents, charged with the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12, has been sealed by District Judge James R. Allen after concerns for the safety of the accused couple in the Floyd County Detention Center.
Martha Pitts and Michael Pitts were arrested on Monday and charged with multiple counts of criminal and sexual abuse.

Those Cats Wearing Blue Aren't Cats: After Georgia stunned the University of Kentucky men's basketball team 90-85 in Rupp Arena on Senior Night, Wildcats coach Billy Gillispie offered this observation:
A lot of teams don't play the way they do until they play Kentucky," he said. " … A lot of teams seem to be having really good games against us."
This is true. No matter what the Wildcats' ranking or record, playing UK is still a big deal. Opposing players clearly get that UK is a program to get up for. But after a loss like Wednesday's, you have to wonder if UK's players get it. Or, if you prefer, why UK's coaches haven't succeeded in impressing that upon them.
