Well folks, it is getting closer and closer that John Calipari MAY be the new headcoach of the Kentucky Wildcats next year. All reports are indicating that the check-book is being thrown at that coach from Memphis with seventeen years of experience. This ma VERY WELL be the best fit for the UK program.
News and Notes from around the web:
* John Clay says there has been a 4:30 p.m. meeting called for the UK players.
* Jerry Tipton (of the Lexington Herald Leader) says it’s nearing completion, but one potential issue could be whether or not scholarship offers to players in the 2010 class and beyond would be honored.
* John Clay is saying Calipari might inform Memphis of his departure at 3:30 p.m. meeting
* Kentucky Sports Radio was told to expect to hear something by 4 p.m.
* The offer to Calipari is rumored to be for $6 million a year.
* If you’re in the “ESPN hates us” camp, here’s another chance to bow up over The Worldwide Leader’s front page story about UK’s coaching change (Compliments of Kentucky Sports Mob Radio)
Plus, here is a possibilily...If John Calipari is named headcoach for UK, just think of the recruits that he may bring with him...Names like DeMarcus Cousins, John Wall (eyeing Memphis and #1 pick), Xavier Henry and add with the upcoming recruits of Daniel Orton, John Hood and JG Valinaro
