Archives for: February 2009
I knew tonight was a fan night. I could sense it from the very beginning. There was too much at stake to sit on press row and follow the rules about no cheering and acting as if you hate the world and have seen it all before 1000 times. Tonight was about recognizing the importance of the game and embracing my inner pulling hard for the team. The folks in the arena knew that as well. I am not sure that I have ever been at a Kentucky basketball that had such an “on-edge” feel prior to the game.

Disney flew Jeff Bridges out to Canada for a digitization process that is set to "de-age" the actor by 27 years for Tron 2.0, according to io0.com. As revealed at Comic-Con last year, Bridge's character Flynn is set to interact with his younger self from the original, with the comic scenes showing him watching over the young Flynn racing. Apparently the cutting edge technique -- also used in X-Men: The Last Stand to knock 20 years off Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen -- involves plaster-casting Bridges to create a 3-D model, then sculpting a younger version of his face to be super-imposed onto a body double. www.ign.com
Tron 2.0 will begin shooting this Spring in time for a Summer 2011 release.

Capcom's 3D reboot of the classic NES title Bionic Commando will see the light of day in May for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Bionic Commando is being developed by GRIN and stars franchise hero Nathan Spencer, a special operative who is reactivated by a reluctant government after an experimental weapon destroys Ascension City. A downloadable remake of Bionic Commando, also developed by GRIN, was released for 360 and PS3 last year. There's no specific date set yet for the PC version of Bionic Commando, but look for it in the months following May, Capcom said.
You know what, I am one of the biggest movie buffs in the world. It doesn't take much for me just to set at home with my wife, rent three or four movies, and just chill. Now, what really gets me excited is to see some of the awesome movies that are being release within the next couple of years. Here are a few that I am really excited about:
(1) GI Joe - The Rise of Cobra - For the last year or so I have been hearing that this movie was going to be CGI, and I thought, "Cool, how were they even going to make a LIVE-ACTION movie out of this without making it look like Street Fighter!" We'll, they pulled it off, and on August 7th, 2009 we will witness one of the GREATEST cartoons ever be turned into one of the GREATEST movies ever.
(2) Star Trek - Let me tell you someting, I AM NOT A TREKKY, AND NEVER WAS, but if their was ever a movie that would turn me, it would be this installment. J.J. Abrams really, really knows his stuff about making a movie, and STAR TREK looks amazing. Finally, a refreshing and exciting look on a rusty series.
(3) Transformers 2 - Rise of the Fallen - At first, I was wondering why would Michael Bay pick this story from the Transformer Universe, but after seeing the trailer during the Super Bowl, it is going to be very, very exciting. Alot of action, big robots and returning cast member. We will most likely see this movie sometime around summer of '10, so it should be worth the wait.
THERE BETTER BE SOME "CONSTRUCTICONS" IN THIS INSTALLMEMT!
So, get ready for some action for the next couple of years!
Halo Wars is has arrived. At least, in demo form. Today, Microsoft released the 1.4GB free demo on Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo gives gamers a chance to test drive Halo Wars--Ensemble's swan song--a month prior to its March 3 release. The demo includes the first two campaign missions and one of the game's fourteen skirmish maps for online play. www.ign.com
